What is a Rust server?

A Rust server is a persistent multiplayer survival world you fully control: wipes, Oxide or Carbon plugins, gather rates and PvP rules. With Gamost the server runs on NVMe, is protected by Anti-DDoS and backed up daily.

Why host your Rust server with Gamost?

Gamost protects your Rust servers with robust Anti-DDoS and high-frequency CPUs, indispensable for handling world simulation and large player counts without lag. Our support guides you through installing Oxide, Carbon and your favorite plugins.

  • One-click installation of Oxide (uMod) and Carbon
  • Easy wipe management (map and blueprints)
  • Popular plugins: kits, clans, raidable bases

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Oxide and Carbon?

Oxide (uMod) is Rust's long-standing mod framework, very comprehensive and compatible with most plugins. Carbon is a newer, higher-performance alternative, often backward-compatible with Oxide plugins; both can be installed on Gamost.

How do I wipe my Rust server?

A wipe means deleting the map file (and optionally the blueprints) to generate a new world. You can do this manually via FTP or schedule regular wipes, usually on Thursdays during Facepunch updates.

How much RAM do I need for a Rust server?

Rust is demanding: plan for at least 6 GB for a small server and 16 GB or more for 100+ players on a large map. The map size strongly influences consumption.

Do my Oxide plugins stay active after a Rust update?

Major Rust updates can temporarily break some plugins until Oxide or Carbon updates. It's advisable to wait for the framework update before restarting a modded server.
